Google says AI search features do not call for special markup
NEWS / SERVICE
Google's Search Central guidance says AI Overviews and AI Mode use familiar SEO foundations, countering the urge to buy into unverified optimization formulas.
What Google's guidance actually says
Google Search Central states that its existing SEO best practices apply to AI features in Search, including AI Overviews and AI Mode. It says no special schema or separate optimization is required.
The guidance emphasizes crawlability, indexing eligibility, and helpful, reliable, people-first content. It does not guarantee that a page will appear in an AI response or receive traffic from it.
Treat the advice as a prioritization signal
For an SEO program, the practical work remains familiar: make important pages discoverable, answer real questions, demonstrate relevant expertise, and maintain a technically sound site.
Do not redirect an editorial calendar toward unsupported formatting tricks. First assess topic coverage, internal links, page usefulness, and whether visitors can move from information to an appropriate next step.
Keep reporting grounded in available evidence
Google's documentation describes AI feature performance as part of overall Search Console web reporting rather than a separate guaranteed channel metric. Visibility may therefore be difficult to isolate.
Roaring Media's interpretation is to track meaningful search and business signals, label uncertainty, and refine pages with evidence. Established SEO disciplines remain the sensible base while search interfaces change.
