WCAG 2.2 is a reminder to include keyboard access in CRM work

The W3C standard adds testable accessibility criteria that matter when a CRM becomes an everyday work interface.

What WCAG 2.2 sets out

The W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 define success criteria for making web content more accessible to people with disabilities, organized around perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust principles. The recommendation includes criteria addressing keyboard interaction and visible focus among other topics.

WCAG is a technical standard; this article is not legal advice and does not assert that every CRM configuration is automatically compliant. The criteria provide a concrete basis for evaluating forms, dialogs, focus order, and other interface patterns used by staff.

Test the work people actually do

Walk through common CRM tasks using a keyboard: find a record, update a lifecycle field, assign an owner, and resolve an exception. Check that focus is visible, actions are reachable, and validation messages explain what needs correction.

Include users with different access needs in workflow review when feasible. A platform may offer accessible controls by default, while custom fields, embedded tools, or rushed configuration introduce barriers that only appear in the real operating flow.

Include accessibility in acceptance criteria

Write specific checks into implementation and release review rather than treating accessibility as a final polish pass. Prioritize the internal tasks that are frequent or business-critical, then document any product limitation that requires a workaround or vendor escalation.

CRM Revenue System work focuses on maintainable lifecycle operations as well as fields and automation. W3C’s criteria are a useful reference for asking whether the system supports the people responsible for keeping customer data accurate.
