Define what a useful inquiry means
A form submission is an event, not automatically a qualified lead. Marketing and sales should agree which details make an inquiry actionable, which sources deserve different handling, and what information is reasonable to request.
The definition should reflect the business’s actual sales process. A complex B2B service may need a qualification conversation; a local appointment business may need location, service, and availability. One generic scoring rule rarely fits both.
Trace the route after conversion
Map each step from inquiry to owner, response, disposition, and next action. If a lead disappears between a website inbox and a CRM, a new campaign can increase workload without improving the customer experience.
Look for practical failure points: unassigned records, duplicate entries, unclear response responsibility, or no feedback when a prospect is unsuitable. Fixing these can be a more responsible priority than acquiring more leads.
Measure the connection, not just the click
Where systems allow, connect source information with qualified stages and later outcomes. Be candid about gaps in attribution and avoid treating a platform-reported conversion as proof of a sale when the records do not support that conclusion.
A Mobile CMO can convene marketing, sales, and operations around definitions, CRM practices, and reporting. That leadership makes channel decisions more grounded in what happens after the click, without claiming perfect attribution.
