Find the story before the list
A product update is not automatically news for every publication. Identify the public question, local consequence, useful evidence, or expert perspective that gives a particular reporter a reason to care beyond the company’s own announcement.
Interview the people closest to the work and verify what can be said. A clear angle may come from a practical problem or a meaningful change, but it should not inflate ordinary activity into a sweeping trend.
Make relevance easy to judge
Research a journalist’s coverage and explain in a sentence why the proposed material fits. Offer a specific source, document, image, or interview opportunity, and make clear whether the information is exclusive, on the record, or subject to agreed conditions.
Keep outreach concise enough to scan, but do not hide essential context behind a vague teaser. A reporter should be able to assess the claim, the evidence, the spokesperson, and the next step without chasing basic facts.
Build a relationship beyond one pitch
Maintain accurate records of beats, preferences, prior conversations, and follow-up boundaries. A polite reminder can be appropriate; repeated nudges after silence can damage trust and make future relevant contact less welcome.
Digital PR & Influencer work is strongest when media relations, thought leadership, creator selection, rights, and amplification share one credible story. The conclusion is not more outreach at any cost; it is better evidence and a better fit.
