Search AI features still depend on useful site foundations
NEWS / SERVICE
Google's published guidance on AI features in Search emphasizes familiar search fundamentals, giving website teams a reason to prioritize clear, helpful, crawlable content.
What Google says about AI search
Google Search Central's AI features guidance says the same foundational SEO best practices apply to AI Overviews and AI Mode. It states that no special markup or separate optimization is required for those features.
The page also emphasizes helpful, reliable, people-first content and eligibility requirements such as indexing and snippet visibility. It does not promise that a page will appear in an AI response.
Architecture remains consequential
That guidance puts ordinary site quality back in focus: pages should explain topics clearly, load for visitors, and be accessible to crawlers. A clever new technical layer cannot rescue confusing information architecture.
For a website project, organize service information, supporting answers, and proof around genuine customer questions. Ensure important pages can be discovered through navigation and internal links rather than isolated campaign paths.
Build for the reader, then observe
Google notes that appearances in AI features are not guaranteed and that reporting may be included within broader Search Console web performance data. Measurement therefore requires careful interpretation.
Our practical reading: build a coherent, useful website before chasing speculative AI tactics. Review query and landing-page behavior over time, then improve the pages where customer needs and business priorities meet.
